What's New in the New Year?

Since the theme of this edition of the Sunflower is New Year's Resolutions, we thought we should show our hand and talk about some of Mirasol's accomplishments in 2006 and our goals for 2007:

A bigger, better web site: In December, 2006, we launched our brand-new www.mirasol.net web site. Our goal was to create a combined site featuring both our Adult and Adolescent programs. We streamlined site navigation, added a Site Map and created many more opportunities to interact with visitors, including a "Success Stories" page where users can share their experiences with eating disorder recovery, and a new "Ask the Doctor" page where you can address your health questions directly to Mirasol founder and CEO Jeanne Rust. We've also added a Media Center featuring video clips filmed at Mirasol and links to other new multimedia eating disorder resources. Our goal for 2007: Add virtual tours of both adult and adolescent residences!

CARFA Higher Level of Care: Mirasol has been fully licensed by the Arizona Board of behavioral Health since 1999. In July, 2006, we also obtained certification by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF accreditation was an important step toward being able to offer a higher level of care, which will help more clients obtain insurance coverage for their treatment at Mirasol. Our goal for 2007: Be able too provide 24-hour nursing and apply to become a level one sub-acute care facility.

New Training Opportunities: We have long dreamed of being able to offer advanced training in the integrative approach to eating disorder treatment. In 2006, we took the first step by creating an online course entitled, Eating Disorders: A Clinician's Guide. Developed by Mirasol founder and CEO Jeanne Rust, this easy-to-use program allows ED professionals to study at home and earn four continuing education credits. Our goal for 2007: Be able to offer CEUs for additional training both online and onsite at Mirasol.

Best wishes to each and every one of you, and may we all realize our wildest dreams in the coming new year!
