Healing the Whole Person
We believe that eating disorders are chronic stress-related conditions from past or present events, and we approach treatment in accordance with many of the protocols used for other stress-related conditions.
We strongly believe that the psychological experience is inseparable from physiological and spiritual states, and that working with the whole mind-body-spirit simultaneously in an integrative medicine approach promotes transformation in individuals and, ultimately, in families and communities. Traditional therapies such as psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychodrama are among the therapies we use to help clients in the integration process.
We assist clients who have experienced various traumatic events through the use of cognitive as well as experiential therapies. These include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive-behavioral interventions, Gestalt Therapy, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Neural-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and sexual abuse issues are addressed in a professional, respectful, and gentle manner.
Our spiritual philosophy is eclectic and does not promote any particular methodology or religion (including the 12-step philosophy). Our philosophy honors clients in exploring and pursuing their own personal spiritual practices and/or religion.
Most importantly, we believe that complete recovery from an eating disorder is possible.
